That’s our way of flagging the places that go further — beyond “dogs allowed”, with a genuinely warm welcome for dogs inside.

The Wellington is one of those pubs that just gets a proper seaside stop — solid pints, relaxed energy, and a space where you can settle in after a windswept Margate wander. It sits right in the mix of town life, making it an easy “we’ll just pop in” that turns into a longer stay once everyone’s comfortable.

Reimagined by Billy Stock and Ellie Topham, there’s a quiet confidence running through it — a classic pub at heart, but with a thoughtful food focus. British-meets-French dishes keep things simple but precise, the kind of menu that feels unfussy yet properly considered.

Inside, it leans warm and grounded — burgundy, cream and wood, candlelight flickering, handwritten menus and that gentle hum from an open kitchen. It’s the sort of place where damp coats, sandy paws and slightly windswept hair don’t raise an eyebrow. A perfect indoor reset after the beach, when the dog’s ready to curl up and you’re ready for something very well-earned.

Dog Policy:

Dogs are allowed inside — the dream post-walk settle. It’s a smaller space so a maximum of 3 dogs at a time, please keep them on a lead, well behaved, and off the furniture (even if they strongly believe they deserve a seat).
