The Wenlock Arms feels like a country-pub escape rather than a city-centre stop, sitting out in Wheldrake and recently refreshed with a major refurbishment that has brought new shine to a much-loved local spot. It sounds warm, community-minded and comfort-led, the sort of place where food, drinks and village-pub atmosphere do the heavy lifting. Good for anyone after a slower, more rural-feeling York-area detour with classic pub appeal and a freshly updated look.
