The White Horse

The White Horse is a traditional pub at the foot of Blencathra, in Scales near Keswick, where dogs are welcome inside throughout. Sitting on the edge of the northern Lake District fells, it's a natural stop for anyone finishing a walk with a muddy, tired dog in tow — and nobody has to wait outside.

The pub serves food and real ales, with open fires adding to the appeal on wetter days. It's around five miles from Keswick town centre, making it a practical base for walks in the Blencathra area or a rewarding end-of-day stop for those staying further out. Free off-street parking is available on site.

Dogs are welcome to come straight in from the fells, which means the whole group — paws included — can settle in together without any doorstep negotiations.
