That’s our way of flagging the places that go further — beyond “dogs allowed”, with a genuinely warm welcome for dogs inside.

The White Swan is one of those “worth the find” countryside pubs — tucked away in Reading Street with a proper local feel and a steady rhythm of good food, live music and community nights. It’s the kind of place where something is always going on, from open mic evenings to quiz nights and laid-back live sessions, giving it that lived-in, social energy rather than anything too polished.
Food leans hearty and satisfying, with steak nights, burgers and proper Sunday roasts that feel like they’re taken seriously without losing the pub charm. It’s a place that works just as well for a planned visit as it does for a spontaneous “let’s just stop in” moment.
Dogs are welcome inside too, with water bowls and treats on hand, so they’re just as looked after while you settle in. Expect a relaxed, friendly atmosphere where both regulars and new faces (four-legged included) feel right at home.
