The Wildart Trail in Canterbury offers a thoughtful woodland walk through West Blean & Thornden Wood Nature Reserve, sitting between Canterbury and Herne Bay. The 1.1-mile circular trail winds through ancient woodland, from pine plantation to traditional coppice and newly opened clearings, with conservation work shaping the space as you go. It's accessible for pushchairs and wheelchairs, and the route gently moves through different habitats where native species are encouraged to thrive and sunlight breaks into carefully managed clearings.

The trail includes interactive art and sensory elements created through local involvement, part of the wider Blean Project bringing history, nature and community together. It's the kind of walk where something is always happening quietly around you, whether that's birds moving through the trees or the woodland coming back to life in managed ways. Plans continue to develop the space, making it feel like a woodland shaped by the people who use it.

Dogs can join you on the walk, making it a great option for a slower, more inclusive wander where everyone gets to come along. It's a calm, restorative kind of place, easy to access but still feeling properly immersed in nature, with plenty for hopeful noses to investigate along the way.
