The Yard

The Yard is an independent café tucked away off the high street in Salisbury and dogs are welcome inside the downstairs café and shop area. Upstairs is cats only, so keep your pup on the ground floor where coffee, cakes and a calm cosy atmosphere make it easy to linger. The resident boxer often adds a friendly paw of welcome.

Open Tuesday to Saturday, 9am to 5pm, it's a short walk from the city centre and station and the quieter location suits dogs who'd rather skip the busy chains. The shop sells gifts and homewares, so you can browse with your lead in one hand and a flat white in the other.

There's no garden or outdoor seating, but the indoor space is genuinely dog-friendly and the cake selection earns regular praise. It's the sort of place where both ends of the lead can settle in without fuss.
