The Yew Tree is a historic pub in Seatoller, Borrowdale, tucked at the foot of Honister Pass around eight miles from Keswick. Dating back to 1628, it's one of Cumbria's oldest pubs — and dogs are welcome throughout, not just in the beer garden, rain or shine.

Food is served Wednesday to Saturday with lunch from midday on Saturdays and dinner Wednesday to Saturday from 5pm. Sundays run midday to 6pm with the pub's much-praised Sunday roast. The pub is closed Monday and Tuesday. Booking is recommended, especially on Sundays and during school holidays.

Whether you're finishing a fell walk or just need a proper pub lunch with the dog at your feet, The Yew Tree delivers straightforward, warm hospitality in a genuinely stunning Lake District setting. Muddy boots and muddy paws are both welcome.

Good to know:

Water bowls available

Dog Policy:

Dogs are welcome throughout the pub — not just the beer garden — so nobody has to do the pavement-waiting shuffle. There's a bowl of water and a gravy bone waiting behind the bar.
