Thorp Perrow Garden Centre

Thorp Perrow Garden Centre sits on the edge of the arboretum near Bedale, about 17 miles from Richmond and welcomes dogs inside the store and around the plants. It's a proper destination garden centre with a broad plant retail offer, so you can browse comfortably with your dog on a lead while you pick out perennials or pots for the garden.

Dogs are welcome in the store but must stay on a lead at all times. They're not allowed in the tearoom, play area or bird centre, but the main retail space is genuinely dog-friendly, which makes a change from the usual outdoor-only rules at nurseries.

The journey out from Richmond or the Dales is worth it if you're planning a day trip and want to combine a proper browse with keeping your dog by your side. Thorp Perrow makes a good stop when you need plants, pots or garden supplies and don't want to leave the dog in the car.
