Trerice is one of those quieter National Trust places that feels perfectly suited to slower Cornwall days with a dog beside you. Hidden in the countryside near Newquay, this Elizabethan manor house combines peaceful gardens, historic buildings and gentle wandering routes without the overwhelming scale some larger estates can have.

Dogs on short fixed leads are welcome through much of the gardens and visitor areas, including the hayloft and second-hand bookshop, which makes it feel far more inclusive as a dog-friendly attraction than many historic sites. While dogs cannot enter the house itself, they can join you while ordering in the café before settling into the outdoor seating spaces. Water bowls and dog bins are also provided on site.

The atmosphere here is calm, scenic and easygoing. You drift through Tudor gardens, orchard spaces and old stone pathways at your own pace, with plenty of sniff-heavy corners and countryside calm woven into the experience. It works brilliantly for holiday days where you want history, scenery and a relaxed explore without needing a huge all-day commitment.
