Tynemouth Priory and Castle is a historic English Heritage site in Whitley Bay where dogs are welcome to explore the outdoor grounds on a lead. The sprawling clifftop ruins and centuries of history make a proper heritage day out, and your dog gets to join you in all the open-air areas while you take in the medieval priory, castle fortifications and coastal gun emplacements.
The ruins are genuinely impressive and there's an interactive exhibition for the humans in your group. Dogs must stay on a lead throughout, which keeps things straightforward when you're navigating the stonework and seasonal visitor flow. The site is open daily 10am–5pm in summer, with reduced weekend-only hours through winter.
A disabled drivers' car park with 10 spaces is on site and there's extra pay-and-display nearby at Spanish Battery and along the coast. The ruins, the sea air and the fact your dog can be right there with you make this one of the strongest dog-friendly heritage visits on the Tyne and Wear coast.

Dogs are welcome on a lead in all the outdoor grounds and ruins. The indoor exhibition stays human-only, but nobody needs to do the pavement shuffle because the real draw here is the open-air history and those clifftop views.
