Tynemouth Priory and Castle is a historic English Heritage site in Whitley Bay where dogs are welcome to explore the outdoor grounds on a lead. The sprawling ruins and clifftop setting make a proper heritage day out and your dog gets to join you in the evidenced public outdoor areas's open-air areas while you take in centuries of history.

The priory and castle ruins are genuinely impressive and there's an interactive exhibition for the humans in your group. Dogs must stay on a lead throughout, which keeps things straightforward when you're navigating the stonework and seasonal visitor flow.

A disabled drivers' car park is on site and there's extra pay-and-display nearby along the coast. The ruins, the sea air and the fact your dog can be right there with you make this one of the strongest dog-friendly heritage visits on the Tyne and Wear coast.
