That’s our way of flagging the places that go further — beyond “dogs allowed”, with a genuinely warm welcome for dogs inside.

Vaga Tavern in Hereford is a community pub where dogs are welcome inside, so nobody needs to do the pavement shuffle while someone fetches the round. Landlady Becky Clyde runs a proper local with regular live music, weekly skittles and darts, and a large beer garden for families and four-legged regulars. It's the kind of place that's as happy with a quiet pint as it is with a busy Friday night.

Opening hours run from midday or early afternoon most days, closed Tuesdays, and stretch to midnight on Fridays and Saturdays. Sundays finish at 10.30pm, so there's plenty of scope for a post-walk pint or a longer evening with leads looped round chair legs. The Vaga keeps things relaxed, whether you're in for one drink or settling in with the skittles crowd.

It's a Wye Valley Brewery pub with the kind of atmosphere that makes dogs and their humans feel like regulars from the first visit. Wet-weather days, match nights or lazy Sundays all work here, and nobody minds a bit of hopeful nose-work near the bar.
