That’s our way of flagging the places that go further — beyond “dogs allowed”, with a genuinely warm welcome for dogs inside.

The Water Witch is a canalside favourite that feels made for dog owners: scenic towpath outside, cosy warmth inside, and a welcome that includes water, treats, and the occasional ear scratch. Converted from stables decades ago, it’s now a proper pub and restaurant with a strong food line-up, local-leaning produce, and plenty of choice if you’ve got a veggie in the group. Beer fans will be happy too, with lots of ales sourced from nearby breweries.
Dogs are allowed in the bar area and outside seating, as long as they’re clean, well behaved, and on a lead, so it stays relaxed for everyone. On colder days there’s that glow of a log fire vibe, and on brighter days the outdoor space is a dream. Tell them you’re bringing your dog when you book, and you’re sorted.
