The Waterloo Inn is a traditional country pub in the small Peak District village of Biggin-by-Hartington, perfectly placed beside the popular Tissington Trail. It’s the kind of classic walking-country stop where muddy boots, cyclists and ramblers naturally drift in after exploring the surrounding dales. Inside, the atmosphere leans warmly traditional with real ales, homemade pub food and a welcoming village-local feel.

Outside, a large beer garden looks out over the surrounding farmland, making it an ideal spot for a post-walk drink on a sunny day, while the open fire inside provides a cosy retreat when the Peak District weather does its thing. The pub also has a touring campsite at the rear, so it often becomes a natural base for walkers and cyclists exploring the White Peak countryside.

For anyone wandering the Tissington Trail or exploring the nearby villages around Ashbourne and Hartington, it’s the sort of place where the day’s adventure ends with a proper pub meal and a very satisfied dog asleep under the table.

Dog Policy:

Dogs are welcome inside, making this a perfect stop after a Tissington Trail wander or Peak District walk. Muddy paws are part of the deal, and your dog will likely settle in like they’ve personally completed the entire trail.
