Westgate Park and Boating Lake is a 9-hectare riverside open space in Gloucester on the banks of the River Severn, known locally as “The Boating Lake.” Gloucester City Council describes it as an open area with the River Severn and an ornamental lake, while Visit Gloucester adds picnic areas, surfaced footpaths with riverside views and wetland habitat pockets designed to encourage wildlife. It is a great choice for a low-effort loop when you want fresh air close to the city centre, with plenty of space to stroll and pause and watch the water. The paths make it easy for a relaxed wander, and the setting gives you that “green break” feeling without a long drive. If you want a simple outdoor reset in Gloucester, Westgate Park is a dependable favourite.
Dog Policy:
Westgate Park - Boating Lake: Dogs are welcome in the park. Keep dogs under control and dogs are not allowed in children’s play parks and clean up after them.
