Westgate Park and Boating Lake is a 9-hectare riverside open space in Gloucester on the banks of the River Severn, known locally as "The Boating Lake." It's a great choice for a low-effort loop when you want fresh air close to the city centre, with plenty of space to stroll, pause and watch the water.

The park offers an ornamental lake, picnic areas, surfaced footpaths with riverside views and wetland habitat pockets designed to encourage wildlife. The paths make it easy for a relaxed wander, and the setting gives you that "green break" feeling without a long drive.

If you want a simple outdoor reset in Gloucester with a dog who enjoys sniff stops and river views, Westgate Park is a dependable favourite. Dogs are welcome throughout the park on lead, so it's an easy win for a calm morning or afternoon stretch.
