The White Horse is a country pub in Whepstead, a ten-minute drive from Bury St Edmunds, where muddy boots and dogs are equally welcome inside. The dining room serves lunch and dinner Wednesday to Saturday and Sunday lunch, with your dog at your feet throughout.

It's the sort of place where a proper table, a pint and a settled Spaniel make perfect sense together. The menu runs Wednesday to Saturday from midday until half eight in the evening and Sunday until two, so there's plenty of scope for a long lunch or an early supper with the whole pack.

The pub is closed Monday and Tuesday and opens at noon the rest of the week. Whepstead is a useful pitstop if you're heading out into the Suffolk countryside by car and want somewhere relaxed that genuinely includes the dog.
