That’s our way of flagging the places that go further — beyond “dogs allowed”, with a genuinely warm welcome for dogs inside.

Williamson Park is Lancaster’s big green “let’s all calm down” button, with 54 acres of woodland paths, lawns and views that make even a hyper dog pause for a second. The Ashton Memorial is the star of the skyline, and the whole place is made for slow wanders, sniff-heavy detours and a bit of hill training for humans who accidentally promised “just a short walk”.

Dogs are welcome around the grounds, café and shop, so you can refuel without abandoning your furry supervisor. The one big no-go is the Butterfly House and Mini Zoo, where dogs aren’t allowed, so plan a tag-team if you’re desperate to see the fluttery bits. Keep your pup under control, stick to the park’s dog code, and you’ve got an easy, lovely day out that ends with a very satisfied nap on the car seat.
