That’s our way of flagging the places that go further — beyond “dogs allowed”, with a genuinely warm welcome for dogs inside.

Ye Olde Yew Tree Inn is tucked into the village of Westbere, just outside Canterbury and right by a beautiful 200-acre lake. Dogs are welcome inside, so everyone can settle in together after a lakeside wander, with that peaceful, slightly tucked-away feel that makes it perfect for slowing things down.

Inside, it leans into classic pub warmth, welcoming, relaxed and full of character, with a menu built around proper home-cooked food using locally sourced ingredients. It's the kind of place that works just as well for a quiet meal as it does for a longer catch-up, especially after exploring the water and surrounding countryside.

The setting really does a lot of the work too, giving it that escape-without-going-far energy that's hard to beat. Dogs can join you throughout, likely settling in quickly like they've claimed their favourite pub already.

Dog Policy:

Dogs are welcome inside, so nobody needs to do the pavement shuffle. Keep them on a lead and mindful of other guests, especially if your dog's already eyeing someone else's lunch.
