That’s our way of flagging the places that go further — beyond “dogs allowed”, with a genuinely warm welcome for dogs inside.

The Bankes Arms is a friendly village pub in Studland, just outside Swanage, where dogs are welcome inside the bar and throughout the garden all year. It's a major stop on the coastal route, making it hugely useful for anyone heading to Studland Bay or back from the Old Harry Rocks walk with a sandy, thirsty dog in tow.

The pub serves food and drink in a relaxed setting and well-behaved dogs can settle anywhere inside or out. There's no fuss, no faffing with restricted zones and no need to leave anyone tied outside while you grab lunch or a pint.

Parking is usually found in Studland village, with the pub itself on Manor Road. It's the kind of place that makes sense after a long beach day or cliff-path loop when everyone needs to sit down, dry off and refuel without splitting the pack.
