Days Out Are For Dogs Too

Criccieth Castle is a historic 13th-century fortress managed by Cadw, set high above the harbour in Criccieth. It's an easy day trip from Barmouth and makes a proper castle outing with your dog, offering ground-floor access to the visitor centre and exhibition area as well as the castle grounds. Dogs are welcome on leads throughout the permitted areas, but non-assistance dogs must stay on the ground floor only.
You can explore the visitor centre's ground-floor and lower-ground exhibition space together, then head out into the castle grounds where the layout allows. Upper indoor areas are off-limits for ordinary dogs, so it's a ground-level visit with your four-footer.
The castle is open Friday to Sunday year-round, with Monday and Tuesday added from late March to early November. There's no dedicated car park on site, but you'll find road parking around the castle and town car parks nearby, including one about 300 metres away.

Dog Policy:
Dogs must be kept on leads at all times. Non-assistance dogs are welcome on the ground floor of the visitor centre and lower-ground exhibition area, plus the accessible castle grounds, but must not go into upper indoor areas.
