Days Out Are For Dogs Too

Dover Castle is one of England's most impressive historic fortresses, perched above the coast near Dover and making a memorable day out for dog owners within the Whitstable radius. The castle grounds are extensive, with ramparts, lawns and pathways where dogs on short leads are welcome to explore alongside you. There's also a dog-friendly area in the Naafi Restaurant, so you can take a break without leaving your dog outside.
Dogs aren't allowed inside the castle buildings or tunnels, so the main indoor exhibitions and medieval interiors remain off-limits for ordinary pet dogs. Assistance dogs are welcome across the entire site. The grounds themselves offer plenty to see and the open-air sections give you and your dog a good stretch between the ticket office and the various historic features.
Dover Castle opens daily from late March to late October, then moves to weekend and holiday opening through winter, with seasonal closures around Christmas. Advance booking through English Heritage can save you 15% on general admission. Parking is available on site for castle visitors.
