Dogs are welcome inside, which means everyone can settle in together for drinks, coffee or a proper meal while the sea rolls in and out beyond the windows.

The setting blends grand old-school spa architecture with an easygoing atmosphere that works just as well for a quick drink as it does for a long lunch. The menu covers classic pub and restaurant fare, and the views do most of the heavy lifting when it comes to ambience.

After a clifftop walk or promenade wander, it's a very good spot to pause, refuel and watch the horizon while the dog curls up and pretends they're exhausted. Sea views, proper food and no splitting the pack at the door.
