Days Out Are For Dogs Too

Fell Foot is a large lakeside National Trust estate at the southern tip of Windermere, near Grasmere, with extensive grounds, parkland and direct lake access. The grounds offer open lawns, woodland walks and shoreline recreation, making it a natural day-out base for dog owners with time to spare and energy to burn. Dogs are genuinely welcome here, on leads in the main park and lawns and off-lead in the south meadow when cows are not grazing.
The cafe sits within the welcome zone, so you can tie the lead to a chair and grab a coffee without leaving your dog outside. Livestock-aware recalls matter when you venture into the meadow spaces.
With on-site paid parking and the kind of space that lets dogs settle into a proper walk rather than a quick loop, Fell Foot works as a serious lakeside destination. The mix of open ground, tree cover and water access means there's enough terrain to suit most dogs and most moods.
