Days Out Are For Dogs Too

Gisborough Priory is a sprawling medieval ruin on the edge of Guisborough, managed by English Heritage and open to visitors with dogs on leads. The site offers a proper wander among dramatic Gothic arches, grassy grounds and centuries of Yorkshire history, with free entry and on-site interpretation boards that bring the story to life. Dogs are welcome throughout the visitor areas on leads, which helps on the uneven stone and grass underfoot.
Guided tours run regularly and offer deeper detail on the priory's Augustinian past, though expect muddy patches after rain. The ruins make a peaceful half-day outing, especially if you're staying in Saltburn-by-the-Sea and want something historic between coastal walks. The priory is open Wednesday to Sunday and Bank Holiday Mondays from 10:00 to 16:00, running late February through to early November.
There's a small visitor car park just 10 metres from the gate and a larger short-stay car park 500 metres away with blue-badge spaces. No booking needed for tours.
