That’s our way of flagging the places that go further — beyond “dogs allowed”, with a genuinely warm welcome for dogs inside.

Tucked away in the St Mark’s area, Griffiths Avenue Nature Reserve is one of Cheltenham’s quieter green spaces — small, but packed with history and wildlife. Set within what was once part of the old Granleys Estate, it includes a Victorian stable building and walled garden spread across a few acres.

It was actually the first nature reserve in the borough to gain official Local Nature Reserve status, which gives it a bit of quiet significance alongside its everyday use.

Like many of Cheltenham’s nature reserves, it plays an important role in supporting biodiversity — these spaces across the town provide habitats for a wide range of plants, birds, and insects, helping keep pockets of nature alive within the urban setting.

It’s not a big, dramatic landscape — more of a tucked-away, local wander. But that’s exactly the appeal. It’s peaceful, slightly hidden, and the kind of place you use when you want a slower, quieter walk without heading out of town.
