That’s our way of flagging the places that go further — beyond “dogs allowed”, with a genuinely warm welcome for dogs inside.

A quiet, slightly secret-feeling spot where the dog sets the pace and history just sort of hums in the background. Hailes Abbey is less “big attraction energy” and more “wander, pause, sniff, repeat” — low stone ruins, open grass, and that peaceful Cotswolds stillness that makes you slow down without realising.
It’s not a rushed visit. You drift. The dog drifts more. There are wide open spaces to potter through, plenty of room to explore without crowds, and just enough structure in the ruins to keep things interesting without needing a full audio guide commitment (though you can if you fancy it).
Perfect for pairing with a longer countryside walk nearby or a gentle picnic stop. This is one of those places where nothing dramatic happens — and that’s exactly the point.
Good to know:
Water bowls available
Treats available
Doggy Menu available
Dog Policy:
Dogs on leads are welcome throughout the abbey grounds and ruins.
There are no indoor café facilities on site, so this is more of a walk-and-explore stop with picnic-friendly space.
