Harrogate Garden Centre is a large destination garden centre in Bishop Monkton, about nine miles from Ripon town centre on the A61 corridor. Dogs are welcome inside the main retail areas, so you can browse houseplants, gifts and seasonal ranges together without the usual car-park shuffle.

The centre is run by British Garden Centres and offers the full nursery and home-and-garden stock you'd expect, plus a food van and gift section. Free parking makes it an easy stop on the way to or from Fountains Abbey, Studley Royal or a Ripon day out.

It's closer to Ripon than Harrogate despite the name and the indoor dog-friendly policy means wet-paw days and last-minute compost runs can happen without leaving anyone behind. A practical, generous garden-centre visit when you need supplies and company in equal measure.
