Hata is a cosy, dog-friendly café on Rodney Street in Edinburgh's north side, just off Canonmills. Dogs are welcome inside alongside their owners for breakfast, brunch and coffee. It's the kind of spot where you can settle in with a decent cup and your dog won't feel like an afterthought.

The café trades as a proper sit-down venue with regular opening hours and a menu that draws locals back for the food as much as the atmosphere. Handy for a weekday outing or weekend brunch run when you don't want to choose between your dog and a good coffee.

Parking nearby is residential on-street, so plan accordingly if you're driving. The location works well if you're thinking of combining the visit with walks around Canonmills or the Water of Leith side of town.
