Holden Clough Nurseries is a destination garden centre near Bolton-by-Bowland, about 25 miles from Lancaster, where dogs are welcome inside The Reading Room alongside you. It's a proper day-out nursery with extensive plant ranges, gifts, interiors and plenty of parking and your dog can join you in the café space while you refuel between the perennials and the pots.

Well-behaved dogs are welcome on a lead throughout and The Reading Room keeps water bowls and free dog treats on hand so there's no need to ration your browsing time around thirst or good behaviour. It's the kind of place where you can take your time over the houseplants without leaving anyone panting in the car.

The nursery sits in the Ribble Valley, making it a useful stop on a longer countryside loop or a worthy journey in its own right if you're restocking the garden with a dog in tow. Food is served in The Reading Room, so you can settle in for longer than a quick sniff around the seedlings.
