Lincoln Medieval Bishops' Palace is a grand English Heritage ruin perched in the historic heart of Lincoln, overlooking the city with terraced gardens, a heritage vineyard and centuries of atmospheric stonework. Dogs are welcome on leads throughout the outdoor ruins and grounds, making it a brilliant stop for a heritage day out that keeps everyone together.
The palace is open on the first Sunday of each month until September 2026, with guided tours at 11:00 and 12:00 and self-led visits from 13:30 onwards. You'll find audio tours, exhibition material and striking medieval architecture to explore, though there's no on-site parking—head for the public car parks near the cathedral instead.
Access involves steep steps and uneven surfaces across much of the site, so sturdy paws and a short lead are essential. It's a properly atmospheric slice of Lincoln's history and your dog gets to sniff around some serious medieval stonework while you take in the views and the stories.
