Days Out Are For Dogs Too
Mere Sands Wood Nature Reserve

Mere Sands Wood Nature Reserve is a Lancashire Wildlife Trust site just outside Southport, giving you a proper dog-friendly day out among woodland, wetland and hides. Dogs are welcome on the reserve on leads and the Visitor Centre is open to them too, so you can shelter, browse and warm up without leaving anyone in the car. The reserve has accessible platforms, viewing hides and a network of trails designed for birdwatching, so expect plenty of sniff breaks and patient lead work.
The car park is open 24 hours and there's a dog bin on site. The Visitor Centre and café open Wednesday to Sunday from 10:00 to 16:00. Dogs must stay on leads and keep to the footpaths.
Inside the Visitor Centre they're welcome as long as they remain off the furniture and under close control. It's a working wildlife site, so some areas may close temporarily for habitat work or during nesting season.
