National Trust - Petworth House and Park near Brighton is a grand stately-home day out where the parkland is as much the attraction as the house itself. The site has a large landscaped deer park and a historic house known for art and impressive interiors. Dogs are welcome across the park on a lead, making the outdoor space ideal for long walks with wide views and plenty of room to stretch the day.
Inside visits add a more structured heritage element if you want to combine fresh air with culture, though dogs are not allowed in the house or certain indoor spaces. The outdoor area is the main dog-friendly draw here, with deer and livestock to keep an eye on and paths to follow where requested.
It works well as a full outing from Brighton because you can tailor it to a couple of hours or make it an all-day plan with a slower pace. Bring comfortable shoes and plan time for the parkland even if you think you are only going for the house—it is the kind of place where the walk becomes the main event.

Dog Policy:
Dogs are welcome across the park on a lead. Keep them under close control around deer and livestock, and stick to paths where requested. Dogs are not allowed in the house or certain indoor spaces, so this is an outdoor-focused day out.
