The Old Coastguard Station is a brilliant Robin Hood's Bay stop for dog owners who like their seaside outings with a side of history, geology and a very decent café. Sitting right at the edge of the sea, this National Trust visitor centre digs into local wildlife, smuggling stories, coastal change and the village's dramatic landscape. Dogs on a short lead are welcome inside, which is a real win when the weather is doing its full Yorkshire performance.

The café serves cakes and coffee with proper sea views, and there are books and displays exploring the Bay's fossil-rich coast and smuggling past. It works beautifully on a day that needs more than just beach wandering, giving everyone a warm, interesting pause between outdoor adventures.

Add in all that sea-view atmosphere and the fact that nobody needs to do the pavement shuffle, and it becomes an easy, useful stop between fossil hunting, sniff patrol and pretending the uphill walk back will be fine.

Dog Policy:

Dogs are welcome inside on a short lead. It is a shared visitor space, so calm exploring, polite paws and respectful sniffing make the whole stop much smoother.
