Port Eliot House & Gardens

Port Eliot House & Gardens is a historic estate near Looe in south-east Cornwall, open to visitors for house tours and garden exploration. Dogs are welcome on leads throughout the gardens and estate grounds, making it a proper day out for owners who want heritage and greenery without leaving their dog in the car. The gardens are open 10am to 5pm daily, while the house runs tours from 10am to 5pm with pre-booking preferred; entrance and parking are at the Stables Cafe end of Newport Road.

Temporary festival closures may apply at certain times of the year, so it's worth checking ahead if you're travelling far. The estate hosts major music festivals in summer when the grounds are closed to ordinary visitors, but outside those dates the gardens offer estate paths, landscaped areas and enough territory for a proper sniff-and-stretch break.

This is a grounds-only welcome for ordinary pet dogs—the gardens and estate areas are yours to explore on a lead, but the house interior is for human visitors only. It's the outdoor space that makes the visit worthwhile: Humphry Repton's gardens, estate paths and enough greenery for a satisfying dog-friendly day out between Looe and the moor.
