Saltburn Miniature Railway is a heritage 15-inch gauge railway running through Saltburn's valley gardens, offering a charming scenic ride between Cat Nab and Forest Halt. The journey takes around 15 to 20 minutes return and it's a proper little day-out attraction for families, railway enthusiasts and dog owners who'd rather not leave anyone behind for a steam-train excursion.

Dogs are welcome aboard the train and travel completely free. They must be kept on a lead throughout the journey and you'll need to hold their collar to prevent any enthusiastic mid-journey exits from the open carriages—helpful advice when ears prick at the sight of a squirrel or the scent of the valley gardens drifting past.

The railway runs on Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holiday Mondays from Good Friday through to the end of September, with additional school-holiday services. The ticket office is next to the seafront car park in Saltburn-by-the-Sea, handy if you're already planning a coastal wander with the dog in tow.
