Days Out Are For Dogs Too

You’ll spot our Recommended Partner badge on some listings (opposite the venue name)
That’s our way of flagging the places that go further — beyond “dogs allowed”, with a genuinely warm welcome for dogs inside.

Setmurthy is a managed Forestry England forest destination near Keswick, offering year-round outdoor access for dogs and their people. The forest is open every day from dawn until dusk, giving plenty of scope for woodland wandering, walking trails and horse-riding routes without needing to book or worry about seasonal closures. Dogs are welcome throughout the outdoor areas and there are several parking laybys and on-road spots near the entrance, all free of charge, which makes planning a Cumbrian forest day easier.
The forest sits within good reach of Keswick and works well as a proper outdoor destination rather than a quick roadside stop. No indoor facilities are mentioned, so this is an outdoor-only visit, exactly what many dog owners need when the day calls for proper muddy-paw territory.
Lead rules are not stated on the official page, so carry one and make the call based on how your dog handles woodland freedom and any livestock or wildlife nearby. Assistance dogs are also explicitly welcomed.
Good to know:

Dog Policy:
Dogs are welcome throughout the outdoor forest areas and assistance dogs are also welcomed. No lead rule is stated, so bring one and decide based on your dog and the day.
