Southwood Estate is a coastal National Trust property above Newgale, offering wooded valleys, meadows, Victorian farm buildings and wide wildlife interest. Dogs are welcome throughout the outdoor estate, making it a proper day-out destination for owners exploring the St Davids area with muddy paws in tow. The estate is open dawn to dusk daily, with two official visitor car parks at Southwood Farm and Maidenhall.

Parking charges apply seven days a week. The paths and trails weave through varied terrain and because cattle and ponies graze the land, dogs should stay on leads throughout the visit. There are no facilities at Southwood itself, so plan accordingly—the nearest public toilets are at Newgale.

It's the kind of outing where everyone benefits from a little forward thinking, a pocketful of bags and a flask. The estate delivers space, scenery and the satisfying logistics of a managed outdoor adventure without the indoor shuffle.

Dog Policy:

Dogs are welcome throughout the outdoor estate. Keep them on leads around livestock and ponies—cattle and ponies graze across the land.
