St Fagans National Museum of History is one of Wales's biggest open-air museums, set across extensive grounds with historic buildings, gardens and walking paths. General admission is free, making it a brilliant all-day outing for dog owners who want culture without leaving their dog behind. The museum is open daily from 10:00 to 17:00, including bank holidays except Christmas and on-site parking is available for a daily charge.
Dogs are welcome throughout the outdoor areas on short leads – and the museum means proper short leads, not extendable ones. If you arrive with a retractable lead, reception will swap it for you. It's a sensible rule that keeps everyone comfortable among the paths, gardens and open-air exhibits.
Assistance dogs are welcome everywhere. The grounds offer plenty to explore and with free entry and clear dog access, it's an easy win for a day out near Porthcawl.
