Tattershall Castle

Tattershall Castle is a striking medieval fortified tower near Lincoln, managed by the National Trust, with grounds and wider meadow areas where dogs on short leads are welcome. The Great Tower itself is open to visitors, but only assistance Dogs are welcome inside, so this is very much an outdoor day-out for ordinary dogs.

The castle grounds, wider site and riverbank area offer plenty of space for a wander and a sniff and the on-site car park is accessed by a single-track drive with a drop-off point available. It's worth checking the National Trust opening-times calendar before you visit, as the site runs to seasonal opening rather than fixed weekly hours.

This is a proper historic attraction around 21 miles from Lincoln and the grounds-only access works well for dogs who enjoy a potter around a National Trust site without needing to follow you up towers. Short leads are required throughout and it's worth noting that autumn bird scarers and RAF Coningsby jet noise can unsettle some dogs on busy event days.
