That’s our way of flagging the places that go further — beyond “dogs allowed”, with a genuinely warm welcome for dogs inside.

The Bay Horse is a historic Bristol pub on Lewins Mead that's been welcoming people through its doors since 1870, now sitting neatly between St James Park and the buzz of Cabot Circus. Dogs are welcome inside, so nobody needs to do the pavement-waiting shuffle while the rest of the group settles in.
Inside, it leans into classic pub energy with familiar food, live sport on the screens and that steady hum of people dropping in and staying longer than planned. The beer garden adds another layer when the weather plays along, giving you that "we'll just have one more outside" moment that rarely sticks to just one.
It works as an easy base while you're moving through the city, somewhere to pause, refuel and decide whether you're actually done for the day yet. Dogs pad in alongside you, settling under the table while the city carries on just outside.
Good to know:

Dog Policy:
Dogs are welcome inside, so everyone can settle in together. Keep them on a lead, and the team can usually offer water bowls and may have treats tucked away for hopeful noses.
