The Orange Tree in Hereford is a traditional real ale pub in the heart of the city, and dogs are welcome inside. CAMRA-awarded and cosy, it's the kind of place where a real fire, daily newspapers and board games make an unhurried afternoon feel properly settled.

The bar serves three Black Country ales, seven guest beers and two ciders, plus fresh cobs and bar snacks when hunger strikes. Free cheese and biscuits appear every Tuesday, and there's a bi-weekly quiz on Wednesdays for anyone who enjoys friendly competition alongside their pint.

Dogs can join their humans inside, so nobody needs to do the pavement shuffle while the group decides on another round. It's a companionable spot for catch-ups, drinks and the kind of evening that doesn't need to be rushed.
