The Pier Tavern in Ilfracombe is a classic seaside pub that fits perfectly into a dog-friendly day out on the harbour. Dogs are welcome inside, so you can settle in together after a harbour wander without the pavement-waiting shuffle. Expect a relaxed atmosphere, good drinks, and that satisfying feeling of being right in the middle of coastal life.

Open 12:00-23:00 Monday to Thursday and Sunday, with late opening until 01:00 on Friday and Saturday, it's ideal for a casual lunch, an afternoon pause, or a quick drink before you head back out for another round of exploring. The pier location means plenty to watch through the windows and that easy coastal energy that makes a stop feel like part of the day rather than a detour. The nearby Pier car park has 141 spaces.

Dogs love the pier energy: lots to sniff, plenty of chances to practise calm sitting while you people-watch, and the inevitable attempt to make friends with every passing pair of shoes. Dogs need to stay on the lead, which keeps things smooth when the pub is busy.

Good to know:

Dog Policy:

Dogs are welcome inside and need to stay on the lead, which keeps things smooth when the pub is busy and prevents your dog from conducting a full shoe-based friendship tour.
