That’s our way of flagging the places that go further — beyond “dogs allowed”, with a genuinely warm welcome for dogs inside.

Just outside Great Yarmouth in Burgh Castle, this is the kind of pub people make a point of heading to rather than just stumbling across. Think proper countryside energy with a solid food offering, from hearty pies and burgers to a well-loved Sunday carvery that draws a crowd.

Inside, it leans warm and traditional, with that easy mix of locals, walkers and holidaymakers all settling in together. Dogs are very much part of the rhythm here too, welcomed in with water bowls, treats and even doggy dinners that quickly turn a quick stop into a full family refuel. There’s also a generous outdoor space for sunnier days, but it’s the indoor welcome that makes it such a reliable stop after a windswept wander.

Close to the Broads and nearby walking routes, it fits perfectly into a slower, “one more stop before heading back” kind of day, especially when the dog hears the word “dinner” and suddenly finds a second wind.

Good to know:

Dog Policy:

Dogs welcome inside (bar area) 🐾 A proper pub stop where muddy paws aren’t a problem and there’s space to settle while you eat. Expect curious sniffs, hopeful eyes during the carvery, and the kind of welcome where bringing the dog just feels completely normal.
