The Travellers Rest is a traditional dog-friendly pub on the Crimple and Follifoot side of Harrogate, where dogs are welcome inside for lunch and drinks. It's a handy rural stop for walkers and day visitors exploring the countryside west of town and the warm welcome extends to muddy boots and wet paws alike.

Inside you'll find cask ales, pub food served daily and the kind of easy-going atmosphere that lets the whole group relax after a morning on the paths. Food service runs until 8.30pm Monday to Saturday and until 5.30pm on Sundays, so there's plenty of scope for a proper post-walk meal with your dog settled under the table.

The pub opens Wednesday to Sunday and the dog-walker trade is well looked after. It's the sort of place where nobody blinks at a tangled lead or a hopeful nose and that makes all the difference when you're planning a day out that works for everyone.
