That’s our way of flagging the places that go further — beyond “dogs allowed”, with a genuinely warm welcome for dogs inside.

Set in the middle of Peak District walking country, The Waterloo Inn is exactly the kind of place dogs hope you find after a long stretch of fields and fresh air. It’s a traditional village pub with cosy fires, real ales and proper home-cooked food, sitting right on the edge of miles of open countryside.

This is a proper “walk → pint → collapse” kind of stop. The beer garden opens out to panoramic views, and the nearby trails mean muddy paws are basically part of the dress code. Inside, it keeps that relaxed, local feel — walkers, cyclists and campers drifting in, boots by the door, stories at the bar.

Dogs are genuinely part of the experience here, not an afterthought. There are water bowls inside and out, plus free treats on the end of the bar (self-service, which is basically a dream scenario). Add in the surrounding walks and you’ve got one of those easy, low-effort days out where everyone — human and dog — gets exactly what they need.

Good to know:

Water bowls available

Treats available

Doggy Menu available

Dog Policy:

Dogs are welcome inside 🐾 There are water bowls both inside and out, plus free help-yourself treats at the bar. With great walks right from the door, it’s an easy post-walk stop for both dogs and their humans.
