Indoor Welcome Last Verified:

Uppark House and Garden is a National Trust estate set high on the South Downs near Chichester, with sweeping views, formal gardens, meadow picnic areas and a café kiosk. Dogs are welcome throughout the gardens and grounds on short leads, making it a proper outdoor destination for a day out with the whole pack. The mansion and tunnels remain off-limits to ordinary pet dogs, but there's a straightforward indoor welcome to explore the main garden paths, meadow and estate parkland without feeling restricted.

The on-site car park includes EV charging and is free for National Trust members, chargeable for non-members. The house is open Sunday and Monday, with volunteer-led tours available Tuesday by booking, while the gardens are accessible daily.

Winter weather can occasionally prompt short-notice closures, so checking ahead is sensible if conditions look uncertain. Between the free-to-enter gardens, South Downs setting and generous outdoor access, Uppark delivers exactly the kind of historic estate visit where your dog gets the scenery and you both get a proper break without splitting the day into indoor-only shifts.
