The Volunteer Tavern, or "The Volly" as it's known locally, is a colourful, community-led pub in Bristol that leans fully into the city's creative, welcoming spirit. Dogs are welcome inside, so nobody needs to do the pavement-waiting shuffle while the humans grab a drink.

With its flowery exterior and relaxed feel inside, it blends a sense of tradition with a more modern, inclusive approach. There's a strong focus on community here, with an atmosphere built around inclusivity, sustainability and bringing people together. It's the kind of place where each visit feels a little different, whether you're dropping in for a quiet drink or finding yourself caught up in the buzz of something happening.

Dogs pad in alongside you, welcomed just as warmly, and quickly become part of the friendly, ever-changing flow. Keep them on lead and settled under the table, and everyone can enjoy the easy, open atmosphere together.
