A Warm Welcome at The Brew Stop, Cleethorpes

Some stops are planned. Some happen because the wind coming off the North Sea is absolutely vicious and there is a warm building directly in front of you. Our visit to The Brew Stop in Cleethorpes fell firmly into the second category.

I was out on the seafront with Mouse, Boodle and Pepsi — Mouse still very much a puppy at the time and working hard on her confidence, Boodle doing her usual careful assessment of everything, and Pepsi being Pepsi. The weather was doing its worst. The Brew Stop, as it turned out, was doing its best.

The Cold That Made Going Inside Feel Like a Gift

It was March, and the north wind had absolutely not got the memo that spring was supposedly on its way. We were passing the beach huts on Meridian Road — which I genuinely love, for the record — when The Brew Stop came into view. The decision to go in was not a difficult one.

In fairness, I had been having a perfectly good time outside. I'm not sure my face entirely agreed with that assessment, but the dogs were keen and the building looked warm and welcoming, so in we went.

The Practical Details

The Brew Stop is at 4 Meridian Road, Cleethorpes, DN35 0AR — right next to the beach huts, which makes it straightforward to find if you're coming off the seafront.

Inside: Warm, Welcoming and Busy

The first thing you notice is the warmth. After the seafront wind, that alone earns significant goodwill.

The staff were friendly and genuinely pleased to see the dogs — not just tolerant, but actually welcoming. It was a popular spot, which felt reassuring rather than crowded. We got chatting to another dog and his owners, which is one of those small, easy pleasures that dog-friendly places tend to produce naturally.

The atmosphere was relaxed enough that once the dogs had taken stock of their surroundings, settling down felt like the obvious next thing to do. That matters more than it sounds when you have three dogs with three very different approaches to life.

Three Very Different Dogs, One Shared Opinion

Mouse was only a puppy during this visit, and building confidence was still very much a work in progress for her. A warm room, friendly strangers and calm staff turns out to be useful territory for a young dog who's still figuring the world out. She managed beautifully.

Boodle, who is sensitive and sensible, did her usual thing of quietly observing before deciding everything was acceptable. Once she'd made that call, she settled without fuss.

Pepsi, who is slightly bonkers at the best of times, was enthusiastic about the whole experience from the moment we walked through the door. All three dogs received milky bones, which helped matters considerably. I had the sausage roll, which smelled so good that one of the three — I won't name names — managed to get a sneaky bite before I noticed. It was, I can confirm, lovely.

Worth Stopping For

The Brew Stop is a practical, genuinely welcoming stop on a cold seafront walk. The food was good, the staff were warm, and the dogs were made to feel properly included rather than merely permitted.

The seven-day opening hours and the straightforward location make it easy to build into a Cleethorpes day without much planning. If you're doing the seafront and the weather is doing its thing, it's well worth knowing this is there.

All three dogs voted in favour of returning. I did too.
