Meet Pepsi: Our Beloved 'Problem' Child

Pepsi has always been a unique presence in our home. She is affectionately known as our 'problem' child. Bless her heart, she has faced challenging behavioral and physical issues throughout her life.
The Early Days of Chaos
As a young dog, Pepsi was extremely destructive. Skirting boards, doors, and even the corners of our new dining table were all targets. She was a master at causing trouble. Before we could even notice her absence, she would execute her mayhem in the living room. Being part of a three-dog family may have played a role. There’s always someone ready to steal the attention for a few minutes, giving her the perfect opportunity to formulate her plans.
One notable incident involved two beautiful dining chairs. In just two hours while we were out having tea in the local café, Pepsi managed to shred them completely. Concerned, we took her to the vet to address this behavior. After some questions, the vet concluded, “she 'liked' it.” It was not separation anxiety; she simply thrived on the act of destruction. Since then, all our dogs have had only plastic beds and old blankets. Soft, cushioned beds? Not in our house! Blame it on Pepsi!

Intense Affection
Anyone who has met Pepsi is struck by her intensity. If she wants a cuddle, it is going to be the most intense cuddle possible. She will get right in your face, breathing the same air and digging her claws into your shoulders. These moments can last forever and feel like an eternity.
While physically, she was once quite the 'ugly duckling' with a coarse, sparse coat, as she grew up, she transformed into a more beautiful dog. Though she always had issues with skin sensitivity and lumps, her personality has always shone brightly. Inside, Pepsi has always been beautiful, even when her appearance did not match.

Aging and New Challenges
Next week, Pepsi turns 12. This new phase of her life reveals fresh challenges for all of us. The lumps and bumps that have characterized her life are becoming more prominent and troublesome. Historically, she has dealt with numerous cysts, but recently, these cysts have started to burst more frequently. The aftermath leaves her skin sore, bloody, and vulnerable to infection.
Earlier, I used Sudocrem for her cuts and grazes with great success. Unfortunately, it didn’t work as effectively for these cyst-related issues. After extensive research—well, let’s clarify, three Google searches and five minutes of browsing on Amazon—I discovered a miracle spray.

The Miracle Spray
Wow—this stuff works wonders! I will link it below. Pepsi has found a new miracle spray to hopefully alleviate her persistent skin problems. She appears comfortable with both my husband and I applying it, and the healing truly accelerates. I genuinely wish we had discovered this product sooner. They have other options available, but I have yet to try them. Given her recent issues, I might soon need to explore their products for her ears as well.
Although her penchant for mass destruction has diminished, it has evidently transformed into a more casual hobby. After all, we all need a hobby!
You can find the miracle spray here.
Conclusion
Through ups and downs, Pepsi has taught us about love, patience, and resilience. While her quirks and challenges may test us, they also enrich our lives. As we navigate this next chapter with her, we remain hopeful and grateful for the joyful moments she brings daily.
Pepsi remains a cherished member of our family—our 'problem' child who keeps us on our toes and fills our home with laughter and love.
