Meet Pepsi!  She has always been our 'problem' child. Bless her, she has struggled with behavioural and physical issues all of her life.

As a young dog she was extremely destructive: skirting boards, doors and the corner of our brand new dining table were all fair game.  As a super fast offender she would be causing maximum damage before she was even missed from the living room.  Maybe this is a perk of being part of a three dog family.  There is always someone else ready and willing to take the attention for a few minutes whilst she executed her mastermind plan.

Two beautiful dining chairs were utterly shredded in merely two hours as we had tea in the local.  We took her to the vets about this destructive streak and after a few questions they concluded that she 'liked' it.  It wasn't seperation anxiety as she did it whether we were in the house or not, she just loved the destruction.  Due to this none of our dogs have ever had anything other than a plastic bed and some old blankets.  No soft cushioned beds for us. Blame Peps everyone!

Intense cuddler!
Intense cuddler!

Anyone who has ever met Pepsi has always been struck by her intensity.  If she wants a cuddle then it will be THE most intense cuddle she can muster.  She will be millimetres from your face, breathing the air you breathe and grabbing her claws into your shoulders. It can last for what seems like days.

Physically, she was a proper 'ugly duckling', her coat was coarse and sparse as a young dog.  She was prone to getting lumps and bumps and generally her skin was always more troublesome and sensitive than the other dogs.  As she has grown up she has become more and more beautiful on the outside, she has always been beautiful on the inside.

Next week, she turns 12 and this phase of her life brings new challenges for us all, not least the lumps and bumps that she has always had are becoming more prominent and more troublesome.  She has always had various and multiple cysts but these last few months they are starting to burst with increasing frequency.  They leave her skin with a gaping open wound that is sore, bloody and very prone to infection.

Previously, I have applied Sudacrem as it always worked when she had cuts or grazes before but not with these cyst explosions.  After loads and I mean loads of research (well at least 3 Google searches and 5 minutes of Amazon browsing) I found this spray.

Amazing stuff

Wow - this stuff works!! (I will link it below) Pepsi has a new miracle spray that will hopefully help with her ever increasing skin problems. She doesn't seem to be irritated by me or her dad spraying her with it and the healing really does accelerate. I REALLY wish I had known about this brand sooner. They have other products but I haven't tried them yet. I have a feeling that I may have to try something for her ears soon though and I will go to this brand or Bugalugs for sure.

Meanwhile, Pepsi's passion for mass destruction has reduced down to the level of a casual hobby and we all need a hobby!
