Pencarrow House and Gardens

Pencarrow House and Gardens is a historic Georgian estate between Bodmin and Wadebridge, set in 50 acres of grounds where dogs are welcome to explore. The gardens offer woodland paths, formal planting, wide lawns and a lake, and your dog can roam off-lead through most of the estate. Around the house itself and near the Peacock Café, dogs must stay on lead because of free-range chickens and peacocks.

The house interior is open for guided tours, but ordinary pet dogs aren't allowed inside except assistance dogs. Dogs are welcome in the café and the outside seating area, so you can settle in for tea or lunch without leaving them behind. The café serves light lunches from 12pm to 3pm, with last orders at 4.30pm. There's a cobbled car park on site with spaces close to the café and disabled parking near the house entrance.

Pencarrow runs seasonal opening from March to October, with the house, café and shop open every day except Saturdays. The gardens are open daily until 31st October. House tours start at 11.15am and run every 45 minutes, with the last tour at 3pm. The estate makes a strong day out when you want a proper historic house-and-gardens destination where the dog is part of the plan, not an afterthought.
